VFW Day of Service 2026 – Continuing Our Tradition of Hands-On Service

At Dixon-Conderman VFW Post 2514 in New Bern, NC, we're excited to once again participate in the VFW Day of Service, the kickoff event for the VFW's #StillServing campaign. This year's national observance officially launches on Saturday, May 2, 2026 (the first Saturday in May), with veteran-led community service projects continuing throughout the entire month of May.

For the third consecutive year, our Post has scheduled a meaningful project in direct support of our local community. On May 2, 2026, we will be cooking and serving a hearty dinner to the individuals temporarily housed at Religious Community Services (RCS) in New Bern. RCS, a compassionate faith-based nonprofit at 919 George Street, has been meeting basic needs since 1982—providing emergency crisis shelter, family and veteran shelter, a community kitchen, food, clothing, and more to those facing hardship.

This hands-on effort allows our members to prepare, deliver and serve a warm, nutritious meal right on the kickoff date, offering not only nourishment but also fellowship, respect, and a reminder that our service continues beyond the uniform. It's a perfect alignment with the VFW Day of Service goal: to highlight veterans' ongoing impact through community-focused projects that address real local needs.

We invite fellow veterans, Post members, family, friends, and community supporters to join us! Whether you'd like to help cook, serve, donate food/supplies, or simply lend a hand, your participation would be greatly appreciated.
